What is a Gotham project/activity you love/are proud of?

My favorite Gotham activity is volunteering at SAGE. Before joining Gotham, I had never really interacted with any LGBTQ+ elders in my daily life. We lost so many older members of our community to the AIDS crisis and other healthcare issues, so meeting these people who have survived and fought for our rights is so impactful. They give me hope that people like us can live full, joyous lives. SAGE’s work is vital to supporting these people, and I’m proud to be a part of it.

Tell us about someone who inspires you.

My mom is my inspiration. She’s been the biggest constant throughout my entire life. She’s dedicated herself to working hard to support her family while also making time to attend as many of our events as possible. As a competitive cheerleader, I always had to find her in the crowd before a performance to boost confidence. She’s my rock, and I’m so grateful for her. Shout out to Queen Kathleen!

What’s a unique tradition or ritual you have with Gotham/your friends/family?

It might not technically count as a tradition, but my favorite thing my friends and I do is make every party we throw a theme party. Some of my favorite themes have been Cowboy Day, Met Gala, Sharkboy and Lavagirl, and Items Found in Our House. It gives us all a chance to flex our creativity and brings the spirit of Halloween (the best holiday) to the rest of the year.

How long have you lived in New York City (or Tri-State Area)?

I’ve lived in New Jersey my whole life! 27 years to be exact. I’ve lived in Bergen and Hudson counties for the last two years, which is why I came to join Gotham when I moved closer to the city.
